Structural Connection Method of Sheet Metal Parts

  • The structural connection of sheet metal parts usually adopts mechanical connection methods, such as joint, bite, thread connection, expansion connection, or welding and bonding methods. Welding belongs to non detachable connection, and other connections belong to detachable connection. Riveting joint forms: lap joint, butt joint, corner joint, plate type riveting and hole flanging riveting.

    1. Angle connection method, characteristics and application: two plates are connected perpendicular to each other or at a certain angle, and angle steel is used as the connecting piece at the joint. There are two forms of single side and double side, which can be used for load-bearing structure, and semicircular head solid rivet is used;

    2. Butt joint method, characteristics, and application: put two steel plates or section steel joints on the same plane, and use the cover plate as the connector to rivet the joints together. It can be used in the load-bearing structure, and a semi-round head solid rivet is adopted;

    3. Lapping method, characteristics, and application: one plate or section steel is overlapped on another plate for riveting, which can be used for load-bearing structure and adopted;

    4. Methods, characteristics, and application of hole flanging riveting: lap a punched plate on another punched plate, and then press the hole flanging; and use rivets to rivet on the hole side, which is mostly used for sealing structure, and use flat round head semi-hollow rivets.

    5. Plate riveting method, characteristics and application: first, the end face of plate is overlapped with one end of channel steel or profiled parts, and then connected with rivets.

    The following principles should be followed in sheet metal CNC machining
    1. The structure shape and size of CNC parts should be considered.

    2. Consider productivity and economic requirements. In mass production, advanced technology with high efficiency should be adopted. Even can fundamentally change the blank manufacturing method, can reduce the amount of machining labor.

    3. There is a wide range of machining accuracy and surface roughness that can be obtained by any CNC machining method, but only in a narrow range is economic, and the machining accuracy in this range is economic machining accuracy. Therefore, when selecting the processing method, the corresponding processing method which can obtain the economic processing precision should be selected.

    4. The material properties of CNC parts should be considered.
